Some types of headaches and nutrition are mutually linked. For example, the mother of all headaches, migraine, is known to be triggered by nutritional aspects, such as the deficiency or plenty of some periodic table elements in food/medicine. In more detail, high tissue cadmium, calcium, iron, potassium, sodium etc could trigger migraine. As a remedy for migraine, Vitamin B6, Zinc tablets, Moly-Cu tablets are prescribed, alongside a combination of balanced diet and supplements.
Hypersensitive headache, caused due to high blood pressure, is also remedied through nutritional diets and supplements.
Another aspect that triggers headache is food allergy, mainly caused due to food items such as wheat, eggs, chocolate, yeast, and fruits such as oranges etc. By rotating the diet and eliminating those food items that triggers headache (this could vary from person to person), such headaches could be prevented. However, one has to be on guard always in order to prevent food allergy headaches from recurring.
Unfortunately, nutritional therapy against headaches is only partially effective, for there may be other factors as well contributing to the occurrence of the headache. Hence, it is advisable to follow a doctor’s suggestions and prescriptions fully, even while following nutritional therapy. Also, charting one’s own diet program is the last thing a patient is expected to do in such a scenario. Instead, follow the nutritionists or doctor’s advice.
Medicine is a specialized domain. Irrespective of how simple the ailment may appear, never ever attempt to self treat. Let the professionals decide the best treatment for a given condition.
