Lung growth is the principal instigate of sarcoma deaths in both women and men in the United States and throughout the world. Lung melanoma has surpassed breast plague as the leading motive of sarcoma deaths in women. In the United States in 2007, 160,390 people were projected to die from lung melanoma, which is more than the number of deaths from colorectal, breast, and prostrate plague mutual. Only about 2% of those diagnosed with lung canker that has swell to other areas of the body are breathing five existence after the diagnosis, while the survival tariff for lung cancers diagnosed at a very early point are senior, with about 49% ongoing for five years or longer. Some lung tumors are metastatic from cancers elsewhere in the body.
The lungs are a customary site for metastasis. If this is the instance, the plague is not considered to be lung disease. For example, if prostrate lump spreads via the bloodstream to the lungs, it is metastatic prostrate scourge (a derived plague) in the lung and is not called lung disease. Cancer occurs when customary cells undergo a transformation that causes them to grow and multiply lacking the habitual reins. The cells form a crowd or growth that differs with the surrounding tissues from which it arises. Tumors are hazardous because they take oxygen, nutrients, and distance from wholesome cells. About 90% of lung cancers surface due to tobacco use. Cigarette smoking is the most important grounds of lung growth. Research as far back as the 1950s evidently established this relationship. Cigarette smoked contains more than 4,000 chemicals, many of which have been identified as causing sarcoma. A role who smokes more than one backpack of cigarettes per day has an imperil of developing lung disease 20-25 time greater than somebody who has never smoked.
However, Once a person quits smoking, his or her endanger for lung disease regularly decreases. About 15 years after quitting, the expose for lung pest decreases to the equal of someone who never smoked. Cigar and channel smoking also increases the endanger of lung scourge but not as much as smoking cigarettes. Most lung tumors are spiteful. This means that they invade and end the strong tissues around them and can widen throughout the body. The tumors can also range to adjoining lymph nodes or through the bloodstream to other organs. This means is called metastasis. When lung melanoma metastasizes, the lump in the lung is called the major lump, and the tumors in other parts of the body are called minor tumors or metastatic tumors. Adenocarcinoma (a NSCLC) is the most regular variety of lung sarcoma, making up 30%-40% of all luggage. A subtype of adenocarcinoma is called bronchoalveolar cubicle carcinoma, which creates a pneumonia-like appearance on chest x-emission. Squamous unit carcinoma (a NSCLC) is the support most normal print of lung scourge, making up about 30% of all lung cancers. Large section melanoma (another NSCLC) makes up 10% of all suitcases. SCLC makes up 20% of all suitcases. And lastly, Carcinoid tumors account for only 1% of all gear.
Lung cancers are regularly alienated into two highest groups that account for about 95% of all cases. The gulf into groups is based on the style of cells that make up the blight. About 5% of lung cancers are of bloody group types, including carcinoid growth, lymphoma, and others. The two focal types of the booth characterized lung canker mass of the tumor when viewed under the microscope. They are called small faction lung growth (SCLC) and non-small cell lung blight (NSCLC). NSCLC includes several subtypes of tumors. SCLCs are excluding communal, but they grow more swiftly and are more possible to metastasize than NSCLCs. Often, SCLCs have already range to other parts of the body when the canker is diagnosed. Up to one-fourth of all people with lung scourge may have no symptoms when the menace is diagnosed. These cancers mostly are identified incidentally when a chest x-ray is performed for another reason. The adulthood of people, however, acquire symptoms. The symptoms are dues to tell things of the major tumor, to things of metastatic tumors in other parts of the body, or to disturbances of hormones, blood, or other systems caused by the plague.
Symptoms of prime lung cancers compose cough, coughing up blood, chest bind, and dumpiness of breath. Symptoms of metastatic lung tumors depend on the position and mass. About 30%-40% of people with lung bane have some symptoms or cipher of metastatic disease. A cough that does not go away or gets inferior over time should be evaluated by a vigor-attention source. Also, Coughing up blood (hemoptysis) occurs in a significant number of people who have lung blight. Any total of coughed-up blood is start for disturb. Chest hurt is a symptom in about one-fourth of people with lung melanoma. The bind is dull, aching, and persistent and may concern other structures surrounding the lung. Additionally, tininess of breath typically fallout from an obstacle to the flow of air in part of the lung, collection of fluid around the lung (pleural effusion), or the spread of tumor throughout the lungs. Wheezing or hoarseness may gesture blockage or inflammation in the lungs that may go along with bane. People read my stuff for different reasons but I have to stay true to the main purpose: helping “normal” people understand what it means to be bipolar and helping the victims manage or overcome it. With that said I thought I’d start a new series based solely on the symptoms involved and the issues that come in to a sufferer’s life because of them. It’s tragic in a slight way. I feel really good right now but I have to write about these dark times. I have to temporarily transport myself back to a place I fought so hard to leave. I do not feel great all the time and I don’t mean regarding the normal ups and downs. I’m talking about head problems beyond the norm. I still have to go up against some stuff but it is a greatly reduced version of the painful trials I used to endure. This is what I want to help bring to the rest of you who may be suffering.
I have personally experienced almost every single thing on the list that follows. I wasn’t even aware of how much I had to deal with until I went through a bipolar forum and took notes. I truly wasn’t aware of how much s**t was no longer in my life. I knew I was better but I was so busy with the fight that I hadn’t realized how much ground I’d covered. With that in mind, here’s the list: -Don’t trust most or all people. This has many aspects to it. Due to your inability to interact properly with anyone, you have a warped perspective of how people should be treating you. So, however they’re treating you is always wrong in your eyes. Maybe someone has hurt you in some way and due to how you are, your ability to handle emotional pain is ineffective. Any wrong done to you, no matter how minor or major, is too much in your opinion. It’s ALL major. Your tolerance for abuse is completely gone. Everything is deeply personal to you. -Paranoid, feeling manipulated at every turn. You are no longer in control of any aspect of your life. You can’t make the day happen the way you’d like. It leaves you feeling weak, ineffective, defenseless. From there, when someone steps in to help or tries to tell you anything, it is perceived by you as a personal assault. Maybe the other guy really is an ass but you react too strongly. You no longer feel in control and it angers or scares you. Probably both.
-Ashamed of your illness. The whole mess feels like your fault even though it isn’t. You can’t “be like everyone else” and that is destroying you inside. You feel like a leper from days gone by. You “know” you are a diminished, faulty person and it hurts. You are “less than” and no one can convince you otherwise. -You’ve become fully disabled, unable to function on any level. This is the end of the road. You’re completely helpless. Totally reliant on the assistance of others be it the government, your family, whomever, but not yourself. You can no longer do anything for yourself. Left to your own devices you face death, insanity, or institutionalization. I personally reached this point. Nice place to be! Kinda like waking up in a hospital bed in the Twilight Zone with a hangover. You’re done.
-In the fight of your life trying to get disability compensation. This is the fun filled period that precedes the above condition. Trying to convince a judge that you are just as screwed as you know you are. If the government doesn’t step in and give a hand, you’ll simply change statistical categories and become a citizen of one of the three cities I mentioned in the above item. Any of this sound like you? I was almost all of it over a period of eight years. And I’m just warming up. There are far many more symptoms to list and define. Almost all of them were my life in its entirety. But that’s the key – WERE my symptoms. I got out and you can too. For your sake, please contact me.

Sexually transmitted diseases are running rampant in our country. They affect millions each year and the most telling statistic is that very few people know they were hit. The spread of STDs and awareness in recent years has done much allowed to talk to young people and prevent them from the dangers of unprotected sex and what they can do to stop the spread of STDs. However, another danger exists, which has less to do with sex education and more to do with social responsibility – that to tell your partner that you have an STD. For anyone who has recently been diagnosed or has gone through the horrible process of being diagnosed with an STD in the past, this situation is unfortunately very familiar. When the first word goes to a doctor relay that STDs has been found after treatment options and risks to health, the first thing many people think that is who they should say and when they have their say . No matter how you prepare May for the process, it will still be very difficult and take considerable courage on your part. But you must tell your partner that you have an STD. This is not an option, whatever the MST or absence of symptoms you are experiencing May. If you are unable to talk to your partner, you are putting them in danger and any person May they have sex with if you break. It May his dirt-if crudely, but such is the nature of the problem. There are more things at stake that your pride as well. Your partner could well have an STD if you have one. Because many STDs do not show symptoms immediately or at all, they already May be a carrier and is none the wiser. They never know to get tested unless you tell them. The risks to health and their person, they are sexually active with are too important to ignore your responsibility. It is not even take account of your past partners – the people in your May had sex since the last time you were tested. Ultimately, after sex education, the most important thing a young person can learn how to be responsible to tell their partners they have an STD, if any. Alternative Medicine – What Is It? Alternative medicine is an expression that gets used quite a lot these days but what does it mean? Alternative medicine has emerged as a colloquialism for medicine or a modality that is not mainstream or conventional. Most of what we have come to regard as alternative medicine these days has been around for thousands of years and it is only comparatively recently that the current conventional idea of categorizing then treating a disease or symptom, as opposed to the whole person, has emerged. Conventional medicine assumes that all disease is caused by single biochemical or physical problem. So the way to fix the problem is either with surgery or chemicals (drugs). With alternative health, (which is something of a misnomer since most modalities have been around for thousands of years), the emphasis is on the whole person and not just upon the symptom. From this comes the concept of ‘wellness’ or a lifestyle and way of being that leads to good health. I like the idea of the traditional Chinese practice of only paying the doctor when you are well. He or she doesn’t get any payment from patients who are sick. Just imagine what that would do to conventional western medical practices! Not to mention the drug companies! So, putting it simply, conventional medicine treats the disease whereas alternative health practitioners treat the whole person. The word ‘allopathic’ is often used to describe conventional medicine. It was coined by homeopath Samuel Hahnemann to differentiate homeopathic practices from conventional medicine. The term “allopath” comes from Greek roots meaning “opposite” and “disease”. As used by homeopaths, the term “allopathy” has always referred to the conventional principle of curing disease by administering substances that produce the opposite effect of the disease when given to a healthy human. Hahnemann used this term to distinguish medicine as practiced in his time from his use of infinitesimally small doses of substances to treat the spiritual causes of illness. Today alternative medicine covers a wide range of disciplines from homeopathy to acupuncture, from chiropractic to vibrational medicine and from Reiki to Bowen massage therapy. There are dozens of different modalities now available All of these modalities have one thing in common, an emphasis on the whole person, not just the symptom. Now don’t get me wrong. There is a time and a place for all types of medicine. I owe my life to allopathic medicine. If it were not for the expertise of medically trained people, drugs and surgery I would not be sitting at my computer writing this. I would be dead. I had a very specific problem. My aorta burst. The only solution was surgery. However, if I had paid more attention to my health and wellbeing from an alternative point of view earlier in my life, I would not have allowed my blood pressure to be sustained at dangerously high levels and the problem would never have occurred. In essence the best anyone can do for their wellbeing is to take responsibility for their own health and consult with and take advice from those practitioners who are appropriate for their current circumstances, whether they are from the area of alternative medicine or allopathy. If I have back pain I go to a chiropractor. If I have broken a bone I see a doctor. Become educated about allopathic as well as alternative medicine. The Internet is a great resource. I have put together some articles and resources at my Alternative Medicine website. Read, learn, and take control of your health. Conventional and alternative health.

Trauma of any kind has a long lasting effect on individuals and it is important that PTSD (Post Trauma Stress Disorder) survivors know that there is help and to be ok with asking for help. Shame plays a large role in PTSD and many victims feel that they are weak because they can’t get a handle on their lives. Then they develop survival behaviors, which in fact, do not serve them at all and a vicious circle begins. When PTSD survivor problems and feelings are not recognized and honored as real and they are not heard, understood, acknowledged for these feelings it creates them to stay stuck in the pain and dysfunction of their trauma. Then the denial sets in and other forms of trauma sets in from people and other areas, because the needs are not meet by the victims. Many times this can lead to acting out in socially not acceptable behaviors and various kinds of addictions, which can further traumatize the PTSD survivor. Finding recovery and support groups can be very daunting as the shame and not wanting people to know there is something wrong with them is over whelming for them. Many feel that if they keep the secret and just keep trying to look normal, no one will know and maybe, just maybe it will get better. This just creates a larger and darker circle around them and they tend to think that there is no way out Recovery in PTSD can tend to be slow and it is referred to as taking small baby steps and accepting when there are setbacks and just slowly moves forward again. This is where support groups and coaching comes into play and are very useful for recovery. PTSD survivors need to be heard and be able to talk about their feelings without and judgment or comparisons and to feel that they have a voice in what their pain is. Many times change is a huge challenge, as the trauma can almost feel like their friend, as it is the only feeling they can feel, and if that goes away, they wouldn’t have anything. This is called emotional numbness and it is very elusive and confusing, and just little steps in testing this out is what can work for them to see it is ok to let the trauma go. Support groups are great because all the members can share their coping skills and new ideas and methods can be shared, learnt and developed. Many times PTSD survivors have an aversion to therapists as they represent authority figures, which either they have a fear of or no confidence in, as no one was there to protect them. In the support groups they are all survivors and can identify with each other. In the groups each individual is encouraged to explain and share their own unique experience and trauma and to respect the other members stories and to look for the similarities not the differences and to find what the each have in common and to share in their growth together.
